SP Processum AB

Processum is a subsidiary to RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and to 40 % owned by leading process industry companies in the Mid-Sweden region. Processum is driving and supporting the development of new products based on renewable forest raw materials, or on existing and future processes’ residual streams. Our areas of expertise are biotechnology, organic chemistry, energy, residual process streams, patents and system analysis. Processum offers research and development support to companies in the pulp and paper industry, chemical processing industry, forest industry, specialized in the areas of biotechnology and organic chemistry. The core competence of Processum is in the field of chemistry and biotechnology with specialist competences within organic synthesis, pilot scale chemistry, batch and flow chemistry and high temperature, high pressure reactions, biomass pretreatment, enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation and engineering of microorganisms.

Two linked third parties to Processum will participate in the project: RISE Bioscience and materials, and RISE Research Institutes of Sweden.

RISE Bioscience and Materials is one of six divisions in RISE and is the natural innovation partner for industries such as agriculture and foodstuffs, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, biochemicals and biofuels, as well as for the automotive and construction industries with regards to the materials area. The Division acts as a support at all stages of the process, from concept to realization, focusing on the customer’s needs and society’s sustainable development.

RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. The RISE institutes Innventia, SP, and Swedish ICT have merged in order to become a stronger research and innovation partner. Through our international collaboration programmes with academia, industry, and the public sector, we ensure the competitiveness of the Swedish business community on an international level and contribute to a sustainable society. Our 2,200 employees support and promote all manner of innovative processes, and our roughly 100 testbeds and demonstration facilities are instrumental in developing the future-proofing of products, technologies, and services.
